Storm’s eyes narrowed.

Tyrion sighed. "Please don’t start, Kael."

I rolled my eyes and let my head fall back against the cushion, finally letting myself laugh—really laugh.

Whatever happened next, one thing was clear: I wasn’t alone, and this time, I’d never let anyone take that from me again.

Then my phone buzzed. I checked it. It was a call from home.

It was Mum. I answered, passing a glance around. "Hello?"

My mates all seemed to catch the cue and fell silent, even though Jace and Kael mouthed words to each other and threw a can of water at each other.
