Chapter 76: Dishonored.
We finished eating, but the tension between us had only grown thicker. As I placed my plate in the sink, she came up behind me, her fingers grazing my arm. When I turned around, she was right there—close enough that I could feel the warmth of her body, close enough that neither of us had to think twice.
I reached for her, and our lips met again. This time, there was no hesitation. It was deeper, hungrier, like we were making up for lost time we never even had. Her hands slid up my chest, fingers curling into the fabric of my shirt as she pressed against me.
I let my hands roam, memorizing the curve of her waist, the way her breath hitched when I pulled her closer. She tasted like the wine we had earlier, sweet and intoxicating, and I was getting lost in her.
Then she pulled away, just enough to meet my eyes. A playful smile tugged at her lips. "Where’s your room?" she asked, her voice softer, teasing.
I swallowed, my heart pounding. "Down the hall."
She took a step back, running a finger along my jaw before turning away. "Give me half an hour," she said over her shoulder as she disappeared into the room.
I stood there for a second, catching my breath, already counting down the minutes.
The next thirty minutes felt like the longest of my life. I cleaned up the kitchen, tried to distract myself by scrolling through my phone, even considered taking a shower, but my mind kept drifting back to her. To the way she looked at me, to the heat of her body against mine.
Eventually, I couldn’t wait any longer. I took a deep breath, ran a hand through my hair, and walked down the hall. The door to my room was slightly ajar, and I hesitated for just a second before pushing it open.
She was standing by the window, looking out at the city lights. She had a lacy bra top and panties . The glow from the streets below cast a soft light on her skin, making her look almost ethereal. She turned when she heard me enter, a small smile playing on her lips.
"Took you long enough," she murmured.
