Chapter 47: Slap Him!
Chen Nuo didn’t go to school on Monday or Tuesday. Sun Keke called a few times during those two days, but Chen Nuo’s phone was off. Both Sun Keke and Li Yingwan went to Chen Nuo’s house and knocked, but no one answered.
It wasn’t until Wednesday morning, when Sun Keke saw Chen Nuo walk into the classroom, that she felt a bit dazed. The guy looked sickly, his face deathly pale as if he had just recovered from a serious illness. Once seated in the classroom, Chen Nuo let out a few coughs. His coughs made School Belle Sun’s heart ache; any lingering resentment from being unable to reach him by phone yesterday instantly vanished.
The long-legged girl, Li Yingwan, was more direct. She had been sitting there, muttering as she read a book, but the moment she saw Chen Nuo enter, she tossed her book aside, spun around, and stared at him intently for a moment. "Oppa, are you sick?" In her haste, she spoke in Korean.
Chen Nuo simply raised an eyebrow. "I don’t understand."
Li Yingwan pouted, feeling wronged, and asked again in her awkward Mandarin.
"Just a cold," Chen Nuo said. He paused, then after a moment’s thought, asked, "Nothing happened to you these past two days, right?"
"...No issues." Li Yingwan was overjoyed as long as Chen Nuo was willing to talk to her. "I’ve been practicing very hard!"
"...Hmm, has your family contacted you?" Chen Nuo asked.
"Yes, my brother called, complaining that studying is too hard. Mom also loves to nag..."
Watching the long-legged girl chatter away, Chen Nuo nodded. It seems the matter with The Abyss is settled for now.
"What’s wrong with you?" Luo Qing frowned at his deskmate. "You look like you’ve spent a month in a brothel, all drained."
