Chapter 83 - 82: It’s Safe, Just Like Night City!

Arthur left the Animal Gang's territory soon after.

With a cigarette between his lips, he steered the car with one hand while resting his head on the other, making his way toward the marked location on his map.

The maglev network looked high-tech, but in reality, it was just Night City's version of a subway system.

Years ago, when the economy took a downturn, the lines leading outside the city were shut down, while those within the city remained operational.

To keep the gangs and so-called "good citizens" from blocking the tracks or robbing passengers, the Night City authorities made security a top priority.

Well, that was the official reason.

The truth? They just wanted to protect the maglev train itself—it was an expensive, custom-built machine, not something that could be mass-produced.

The price was so astronomical that even if 10,000 Night City residents pooled their money, they couldn't afford a single car.

Because of this, any out-of-service tunnels were completely sealed off with reinforced concrete, separating them from the still-functioning tracks.

Arthur drove past the usual street-side gunfights, weaving through the chaos that was just another night in Night City. Eventually, he arrived in Santo Domingo and pulled into a remote corner, where even residential buildings were scarce.

He scratched the back of his head and checked the note in his hand. This should be the place.
