Chapter 33: Mazekin Dimitri Interlude
"Winner, Applicant No. 75: Dimitri Novikov!"
Murmurs rippled through the stalls, echoing across the training grounds as my victory was declared.
"Did he really just defeat an experienced Mazekin?"
"How did he do that?"
"Why are there two of him in the arena?"
The murmurs and chatters of applicants who stood in the stalls echoed throughout the whole training grounds. Their reaction made it clear that they were confused about how I had won.
[Disperse] I muttered as the blade that I held against Raul's neck unravelled and merged with the shadow beneath my feet. My clone, or shade, followed suit, dispersing below my feet.
Raul turned to face me, onyx eyes widening. "What happened?"
"I won," I replied.
"No, I know that, but how?"
"Using my head," I said, not wanting to reveal my cards. It is important to stay unknown and unpredictable.
