"I’m very sorry for Riser’s behavior, Your Highness," Layla Phenex bowed her head at me lightly, her golden-blonde hair bouncing a bit as she did, "I promise that he’ll never do something like that again!"

"Relax," I just chuckled at her gesture, shaking my head a bit, "It’s not your fault. I know he’s not that bad of a guy - he was just pushed to the edge, and needs some guidance. Hopefully, this will help him get the help he needs, and he can become a useful member of my Kingdom in the future."

I was cutting Riser a lot of slack here, especially considering what he had tried to do to Yubelluna was definitely pushing the edges of an unforgivable offense, but what I knew about him from the series was doing a lot of heavy lifting. Riser Phenex from a world where I didn’t exist was saving the Riser Phenex of this world.

He was a disgusting, arrogant, deplorable piece of shit. But he wasn’t a disgusting, arrogant, deplorable piece of shit that couldn’t be redeemed. He had shown in the series that he could be redeemed, as he had done a complete 180 with his character.

He had gone from a lazy, arrogant prick to a hard-working, determined, and pretty normal guy. Where he had once been speaking about himself in third person, looking at Rias as if he owned her because of the contract, he had then become a normal-speaking man who respected her as a woman and a person.

So, while my words to him had been harsh, they were necessary. He needed a push to guide him in the right direction. In the series, that had been his defeat at Issei’s hands. In this world, I hoped it would be what I had done to him yesterday.

Granted, I was definitely giving him a bit too much slack at the moment. He was useful for producing Phenex Tears, and I knew he would become a pretty powerful asset if he truly became as hardworking and determined as he did in the series, but I wasn’t just going to forget about what he had almost done to Yubelluna.

This was his one chance, and if he blew it, I’d be gaining a bit of XP for my [Phenex Immortality] and the Phenex Clan would be down another son.

"Ah, you’re really too kind, Your Highness! But, I just feel so bad for what he did," Layla continued, reaching down as her hand grabbed the front of her pure-red dress, tugging on it a bit as she showcased a bit more of her bountiful cleavage, "Won’t you please let me make it up to you?"

"It’s not necessary," I countered easily, just grinning at her, "But if you feel the need to, who am I to stop you?"
