Chapter 166: The horror of truth
On the other side, Meng Rin was staring at her constantly buzzing phone as she sat on her bed with her knees hugged to her chest. Her heart thudded as if a knot was tightening around it. She hung up on the incoming call and slowly wiped her forehead laced with a layer of sweat.
The phone buzzed again and she almost dropped it from her hand. A soft gasp escaped her trembling lips. She felt an extremely bad foreboding and quickly picked it up.
"RinRin! You finally picked up my call. I got so worried, you know? I was about to come to Tianjin myself," A man’s deep and concerned voice rang from the other end.
She froze hard as if the earth shattered under her feet.
"N-No I wasn’t really...ignoring your calls. It’s just that...you would have seen the news. Director Wan died and with all the police investigation going on, I j-just couldn’t..."
She heard a sigh of relief.
"Thank God. I thought you were in some sort of a problem. But I still think I should come to Tianjin hmm..."
Meng Rin’s expression paled. "There is no need! I-I am doing fine here."
"Hm? But I am not really sure if the cops there are bothering you or not," his voice sounded somber.
"Why would they bother me...?" Her gaze lowered as she bit her lip.
Suddenly, her eyes widened as an idea struck her. But she hesitated if it was wise to ask for his help.
