Chapter 99: Keep an eye
The sirens echoed from a distance and one by one, Jinping, Aang and Yibo were escorted inside the police car. Daxia, Shilin and Yong stood at a distance, watching them leave.
Daxia held tears in her eyes. She personally never gelled with Yibo that much but Aang and Jinping were different. She did consider them as good friends, and it hurt her to see them facing the consequences despite it being Anhe who pushed their limits. She understood their frustration very well.
Maybe I would have hurt Anhe too had I gotten the chance.
That thought scared her.
"Here."
A glass of water appeared before her sight and she looked up, surprised. Shilin stood before her with a concerned look marred on his face. "Drink some water."
She took a moment and accepted it. "Thanks..."
"No problem. I understand it’s hard for us all."
Her eyes welled. "Now that it has finally come to this, I have decided to break everything with Anhe. But I feel guilty."
"Why?"
"Because I am finally free. But I am free because Aang and Jinping stepped up. They broke laws but it allowed me to finally escape her clutches. But they cannot feel the same freedom because they will be in jail now. We all equally suffered yet I am the only one who gets to be free. I feel terrible. This shouldn’t happen to them..."
