Chapter 97: Each one to their own (2)
Jia didn’t know what was going through Aang’s mind, but Mingshen did. "That is the expression of ’I should have probably chosen to confess before and earn that leniency when I was offered.’ Right, brat?"
He was all royally seated on the couch, popping in grapes in his mouth.
Bojing’s mouth twitched.
How can you casually eat a fruit in such a tense atmosphere? He sobbed.
Aang held a contemplative gaze for a long time before he finally admitted. "Fine. You are right. It’s as you said. I recognized the fake walls when I was walking by myself. I was around point B when I heard some skirmish and a thud. When I touched and studied the wall, I knew it was like those another door like walls. I opened it and at first, I couldn’t see clearly because of the fog floating around. Then I noticed Anhe lying on the ground."
Jia arched her brow, amused with his readiness to admit everything. But she could read it in his gaze that if he cooperated at this final stage instead of throwing resistance, he might still get that leniency.
"You did not see Jinping escaping."
"No. I only saw Anhe when the mist settled. I tried to help her get up, and then I noticed the bruise on her temple but realized that she was unconscious. I didn’t understand how she hit her head. Her phone was lying on the side and I remembered all the videos it had."
He looked away, hands in his pockets. "It was stupid but rage filled in me. I grabbed the phone and threw it hard on the floor. It shattered violently. Then I kicked her on the waist. When I calmed down, it struck me that the cops might probably find my fingerprints on her phone, so I picked it up with my handkerchief, wiped the broken phone as much as I could and hid it in that lamp fixed on the wall."
