To be killed and yet still be willing to forgive past grievances and seek out the City Lord? Such a disregard for human nature... it must be a Player.
I just don’t know if the City Lord reached this conclusion through experimentation, or if he already knew.
Lin Bai fell deep into thought. To save his good big brother, he had painstakingly devised ways to get close to the City Lord. Now, he was somewhat confused about the City Lord’s motives.
After all, if the master of a city wanted to harm him, there are plenty of ways; it wouldn’t have to be this obvious.
"Storekeeper Lin, you should go to the City Lord’s Mansion by yourself. I’m too severely wounded; I’m afraid I can’t accompany you," Zhou Jiang coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood, clutching his lower abdomen as he sat on the ground, unmoving. "Don’t worry, the City Lord won’t harm you."

Lin Bai raised an eyebrow and couldn’t help but scoff internally. As expected of the City Lord, thick-skinned and shameless—he could give me a run for my money.
Looking up at the night sky, Lin Bai walked towards Zhou Jiang. "Let’s go, Sir Zhou. I’ll help you back to the City Lord’s Mansion for treatment..."
Zhou Jiang’s expression sharpened. "You know me?"
"What kind of thing is that to say?" Lin Bai glared at him. "Even if I didn’t know you, I couldn’t just leave a heavily injured person here and go to the City Lord’s Mansion alone!"
Zhou Jiang pressed, "How did you know my surname is Zhou?"
