Chapter 106: Good Friends
Sun Mei was astonished by Zhao Dong’s words. "Darling, you’re amazing! I never imagined you’d given it so much thought."
"Of course." Zhao Dong smirked proudly. "Things are different here than in our previous world. I have to think more long-term, for you all, for our family."
The couple chatted for a while longer before going to bed.
The next day, Zhao Dong actually built a barbecue grill in the courtyard.
Zhao Zhitong squatted to one side, cupping her chin in her hands, watching Zhao Dong with admiration. When he finished, she quickly ran to the kitchen and brought him some cooled boiled water. "Dad, have some water."
Then, she circled the barbecue grill, her little mouth constantly spouting sweet praises. "Daddy, you’re a super-daddy! How do you know how to do everything?"
After drinking the water and listening to the little girl’s words, Zhao Dong roared with laughter. "HAHAHA!"
Meanwhile, Sun Mei was in the kitchen, threading meat and vegetables onto bamboo skewers. Zhao Ya kept wanting to help, but Sun Mei, afraid she might prick her hand, had her wash vegetables instead.
Although the barbecue ingredients Sun Mei prepared weren’t particularly abundant, there was certainly enough to ensure everyone ate their fill. For meat, there were chicken thighs, chicken breast, chicken skewers, and a whole grilled fish. The vegetables included cabbage, radishes, and water spinach, among others.
She would also stir-fry a large plate of fried snails and, finally, cook three bowls of Liuzhou river snails rice noodle to guarantee the little ones would all be completely full.
Zhao Zhitong had arranged to meet her classmates at noon. So, by the time Sun Mei had all the food ready, it was nearly the appointed time.
Zhao Zhitong excitedly pulled Zhao Yu and Zhao Ya to the gate, ready to welcome her classmates.
