Knowing Maxwell Peary didn’t take her seriously, he felt greatly relieved.

Nia Mitchell stepped forward and looked at Mr. Hampton.
"I was only defending myself. How could I have acted if she hadn’t been so oppressive?"
Nia defended herself; she remembered that Mr. Hampton was a reasonable man.
"If you don’t believe me, you can ask your chauffeur. He witnessed the entire incident."
Nia pointed a finger. The driver, standing to one side and trying hard to be invisible, abruptly looked up.
Seeing everyone’s gaze turn to him, he was stammering, about to tell the truth, when Mr. Hampton abruptly interrupted him.
"Nia Mitchell! Stop making excuses for yourself. If you want to settle this privately, that’s also an option."
Mr. Hampton took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to her with a sneer.
