Martial Ascent to Divinity

Chapter 784 - 758: Entering Again

Killing a newly ascended demigod doesn’t earn much power on the Endless Battlefield, but killing a lower demigod is entirely different.

Zhou Leng did some brief preparations, donned the shining silver metallic shell of the Holy Sword Angels, paired with stylish sword wings, and entered the Two Realms Barrier leading to the Demon Purgatory.

The Two Realms Barrier resembled a twisted water curtain. With both hands reaching in, he gently tore open a rapidly shrinking hole.

He stepped in.

In that moment, Zhou Leng prepared himself, either to be directly bounced back by the power of the two realms or to enter the Endless Battlefield on the first level of the Demon Purgatory.

"Hmm?"

Zhou Leng glanced around, the place seemed familiar.

It looked like the Endless Battlefield, with blood clouds densely covering the sky and blood-red earth spreading underfoot.

But what was different was that in the near distance, dozens of blood moons were suspended in mid-air.

Lower Ten Emperor Battlefield.

Zhou Leng paused, suddenly realizing.

The rule of the Ten Emperor Battlefield is that it prohibits high-tier entry into low-tier battlefields, but doesn’t prohibit low-tier entering high-tier ones.

The lower-tier people are not fools, and they don’t dare to come in. After all, to enter is to face death.

Zhou Leng laughed.

Honestly, killing newly ascended demigods may have been thrilling before, but slaughtering thousands in a row does get a bit dull.

Lower demigods are different, not using the Great Sun Divine Skill, winning requires some strategy.

This place is more suited for honing oneself.

As for the Divine Power Crown or Divine Techniques Throne and the like, those are secondary.

Looking up, there are no blood moons.

It seems the Ascension Divinity Ladder didn’t count him in either.

As he was thinking, a dozen or so demons flew over in the distance. Leading them was a Demon Prison Angel, but a Dragon Bone Angel.

A humanoid demon with bone wings, its entire body twisted and formed from overlapping bones, exuded a dragon’s might not inferior to a giant dragon of the same tier.

In the team, there was an old acquaintance, the Sword of Innocence, wielding dual blades.

"Loner, your blood moon was snatched? Join us, participate in a battle, whether we win or lose, we’ll give you a blood moon, how about that?" said the Dragon Bone Angel.

Zhou Leng sensed that the demon demigods felt different now, so to gather information, he said, "I’m willing to join you."

He stayed at the back of the team, following them onward.

At first, he kept silent, slowly observing who was the most talkative, and discovered that the Sword of Innocence was the most chatty, so he approached him, listening to his chatter.

Occasionally interjecting a few sentences, he quickly led out what he wanted to know.

It turned out, since too many newly ascended demigods had died, the Demon Prison Lord was shocked into issuing an order forbidding gods from excessively fighting to the death in the Ten Emperor Battlefield.

The Lords said it nicely, but after lower demigods entered here, holding back for a day, things quickly went awry.

The Demon Purgatory has always been adept at internal conflict, and soon demigods started fighting.

The Lords’ sons and geniuses, seeing things going badly, activated contingency plans, loudly announcing and sending people to negotiate.

Eventually, all parties decided to go to a designated location and compete for blood moons through a "Demon Purgatory New Star War" style tournament, minimizing deaths.

Before the competition, all parties swore to not violate the rules; losers must leave, and anyone who dared to break the rules would be hunted by all sides.

This team was on its way to the designated location.

Zhou Leng thought, how boring.

If thousands of lower demigods gathered in one place, how could he make trouble amid the chaos?

After thinking it over, he quietly left the team.

Soon, the other demons in the team noticed the Holy Sword Angel had left and cursed under their breath.

The Sword of Innocence muttered to himself, "I wanted to borrow a sword from him; I heard the Holy Sword Angels have lots of half-divine artifact swords..."

As they were talking, they heard a massive explosion in the distance, resembling a battle at the lower demigod level.

Then, someone shouted, "Nonsense, I’m not from the Demon Dragon Race..."

Immediately after, there was a chorus of curses from demon demigods.

"Stop!" The Dragon Bone Angel immediately halted the group, looking towards the team members.

"What do you think?"

"This gathering, could it be a setup by certain demons?"

"Let’s go over there and see!"

"Let’s go."

They all rushed towards the direction of the battle.

Flying for dozens of kilometers, they saw the runaway Holy Sword Angel single-handedly fighting multiple lower demigods, leaving large craters, bloodstains, and body parts on the ground.

But there were no large body parts.

"What happened?" the Dragon Bone Angel shouted.

"That bastard, pretending to join us, and then launched a sneak attack, trying to run away, but was intercepted by us..."

Suddenly, the Holy Sword Angel drank an unknown magic potion, emitting a thick, blood-colored glow covering its body.

Boom!

The Holy Sword Angel, with the extreme speed of a lower demigod, unleashed several punches, severely injuring three lower demigods, killing two, and fled with the bodies.

The remaining lower demigods were intimidated and dared not pursue.

"Such a strong lower demigod..." the Sword of Innocence squinted his eyes.

He could tell that this person’s strength was immense, but in order to hide his identity, he deliberately abandoned his usual combat methods.

Even so, he far surpassed ordinary lower demigods.

From the opponent’s punching power, he felt the vast power that only someone with a high-level bloodline might have.

Either a lord’s child or a Starry Sky Bloodline.

The Sword of Innocence loudly asked, "What do you think?"

"He said he was here to meet us on behalf of the Angel Alliance, but in reality, he exposed the identity of the Demon Dragon Alliance. Without surprise, he’s from the Demon Dragon Line, and the Demon Dragons must have other plans."

"Does it have anything to do with the Molten Rock Emperor?" The Dragon Bone Angel immediately grew tense.

The Demon Purgatory is indeed strong, but there are too many kinds of tribes; the 18th floor of the Demon Prison, each floor, is equivalent to a world.

But also because there are too many tribes and they are too strong, the contradictions between the tribes are huge. Pick any two tribes, and they are bitter enemies, irreconcilable.

They’ve been killing each other for tens of thousands of years, and it’s normal to stab someone in the back at times like these.

Especially since the Angel Race successfully helped the Despair Shepherd conquer a world, currently overshadowing the Demon Dragon tribes.

"Hmph. You all saw that demon just now. Although he looked like a Holy Sword Angel, the techniques he used were clearly improved dragon claw combat. You all know that the Demon Dragon Race recently acquired Dragon God battle techniques. Think back carefully..."

Present were all lower demigods, rich in battle experience, and upon comparing notes, they all nodded.

Some of the details just now couldn’t be pulled off by a pure demon dragon.

"Also, that demon’s power was immense, precisely a mark of the Demon Dragon Race. In the Demon Purgatory, there are not more than three tribes whose power can match that of demon dragons."

Without Innocence said, "You mean to say that the Demon Dragon Race wants to frame the Angel Race and gain from it?"

"I didn’t say that, but it is a fact that the Demon Dragon Race wants to pre-hunt before the official competition."

The demigods in Without Innocence’s faction looked at each other.

It seemed, this makes perfect sense for the Demon Dragons...

In the Demon Purgatory, intrigue, cunning, and shamelessness are praises for demons.

The team slowed their pace.

Soon, each team was attacked successively.

One after another, lower demigods fell.

With some people’s instigation and demons’ natural distrust of other demons, accusations began flying from all directions.

Some teams were worried about being framed and gave up going to the competition site.

Tribes reaching the competition site started arguing, and after arguing fiercely even fought several skirmishes, but were ultimately stopped by other tribes.

Without all the demons present, the tournament couldn’t commence.

Without a supremely powerful demon to control the situation, it quickly fell into a stalemate.

Next, demons continued to be ambushed and killed, and the situation showed signs of spreading, causing alarm and fear throughout the factions.
