Chen Yi opened his eyes and struggled to climb up from the ground.
The air was filled with the scent of bronze corrosion and the tang of blood. He took two deep breaths and hurriedly looked around.
Corpses lay scattered across the ground. Their faces were pale, blood spilling from their seven orifices, and their expressions in death varied—some fearful, some horrified.
Chen Yi’s heart tightened as he frantically searched for Yin Tingxue and Min Ning among the bodies.
Whether fortunate or unfortunate, he could not find Yin Tingxue or Min Ning, but neither could he find their bodies.
"They’re still alive... they must still be alive."
Chen Yi consoled himself and then raised his head to take in the scene before him.
The surroundings were largely pitch-black, faintly illuminated by eerie light. Broken walls and ruins were scattered everywhere. Chen Yi tilted his head upward, finding a wall of stone above him, then looked down to see fragments of pottery and bronze artifacts—funerary items, as though he had stumbled into the burial chamber of an ancient king.
Chen Yi took a deep breath. Right now, his priority was clear: he had to find them as soon as possible.
He lifted his foot and cautiously stepped forward. Rounding a corner in the dark passage ahead, he suddenly heard a faint sound.
