Chapter 40 - 30 I am your concubine now! (Please follow)
Approaching the Praying Place, the Capital City bustles with prosperity.
The mellow autumn hues extend from Yintai Temple to Qian Deng Temple, enveloping the journey. Pedestrians retreat into painted boats and carved buildings, lowering the skies above the Capital City.
"Min Ning, let me go in first and see what’s happening. Be extremely careful."
"Mm... I’ll leave it to you."
After a brief exchange, Chen Yi, astride a tall steed, arrived outside Baihua Building.
From a distance, Baihua Building appeared to be built beside a tranquil canal, with stone bridges, willow trees, and scholars with maidens strolling nearby. As dusk settled, the evening painted a serene picture—a fine night, perhaps. Painted boats drifted along the waters, while the flower lanterns of courtesan houses overlapped and shimmered. Though night had yet to fall, the Capital City was already bustling with lights and revelry, flower maids and entertainers occasionally passing by with lanterns or oil lamps, jesting with patrons on the roads.
Yet, where it should have been lively, Baihua Building was shrouded in an unusual silence. The intricately carved plaque above seemed deliberately ignored. From afar, Chen Yi could sense an array set up there.
The clamor of the Capital City was separated from Baihua Building, transforming this street of flowers and willows into a land of quiet cultivation.
A ripple stirred in his heart. Suddenly, Chen Yi looked up and saw a white-robed female crown leaning against the window rail. Her beauty was striking, and as she smiled gently, it felt akin to Siddhartha Gautama’s gesture with the lotus flower. Though her figure vanished in a fleeting instant, it remained a breathtaking glimpse.
Chen Yi squinted his eyes slightly, dismounted, and walked towards Baihua Building, his blade sheathed at his waist.
