Ariel stared at him when he said that. "So will you fight for your family even when it means you’ll die in the process?" she asked.
Her question made Riven pause; it was far too direct. It was now he recalled something very important.
Whenever Lance was injured and came to her for healing, she would always give him advice that would actually help him later.

’Could she have seen something about me? Do I actually die?’ Riven thought. He took a deep breath.
"I can tell that you know something you can’t exactly tell me, and that’s fine. Even if I die, my family will be happy, safe. My life is a small price to pay," Riven said, and he turned to leave.
"Such a drive and mentality is a good and dangerous one, Riven. You aren’t a tool for others’ happiness," Ariel said.
"Before, I chased after making people see me as worthy, and now I chase wanting to protect those I love. Looking at the past me, this version now is the best I can be," Riven said and held the knob of the door.
"Wait," she spoke. She pulled out a letter from her pocket. "I knew you would refuse to heed me, so I already wrote the letter. I just want you to know that the path you walk is a perilous one, and you might not be the Riven you are now anymore.
So take some time out now and make some memories, because those memories might be the only thing that keeps you sane when the time comes," Ariel said.
