Riven gritted his teeth. What Ariel said was the truth, but he couldn’t just allow it to rest. His family was in danger; he needed to help them, no matter the cost.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, calming himself down. Then he opened his eyes and looked at Ariel.
"What would you have done in my shoes?" he asked.
She paused for a moment, her gaze lingering on him. She let out a tired sigh.
"The academy is on a break now. After the attack on the island and the ongoing attacks, things are shaky and it might not be back in session for a while.
You can go to your hometown, but not now. I won’t allow you. Your injuries are too much for you to go running around.
I understand your pain, and I see your drive. Therefore, I’ll put you through a special healing magical ritual. This ritual deals with certain powers that are risky, and there might be some side effects, but you’ll be healed up by the end of the day.
But like I have said, be warned, it’s extremely dangerous and also painful," she said. She gave him a look that said he should think carefully about it.
"I’ll do it," he said without a moment of hesitation.
She sighed. "Fine, I’ll come get you before then," she said and walked away, her footsteps echoing as she left.
Riven looked down at Sofia. He saw her eyes glued on him.
"Are you really going to run off into another battle?" she asked.
