Chapter 145: Getting a Pardon
The office went quiet when Riven spoke; everyone stared at Riven. His classmates were confused as to why he said that—after all, he was the one telling them that they would be taking Lance back. Why the sudden change?
"Mr. Riven, I understand your animosity toward Lance, but..."
"No, it’s nothing like that, and I also didn’t finish what I had to say," Riven cut her short. "Forgive me if I came off as rude. What I was saying is that what Lance did is worthy of death, and there is no sugar-coating it in any way.
But, he is still the chosen of Lumis, and I believe for this time and this time alone, we should grant him a pardon," Riven said.
"Hmmm? What you’re trying to say is to completely remove all his crimes and wipe the slate clean?" Elena asked.
"Yes, that’s what I am asking for, swept under the rug," Riven said.
Elena had a look of confusion on her face, so she decided to indulge Riven and understand exactly why he said something like that.
"Is there a reason why you want us to do something like that?" she asked.
"Because if you clear his name, he has received mercy he didn’t deserve. And if a repeat happens, you are within all rights to give the full extent of the punishment to him without any hesitation," Riven said.
