Silas’s POV

I didn’t expect to meet Van here. I didn’t even have the slightest thought about it when we met that night. I think I had forgotten about him too—because there were so many things going on.

"Sure, Van, come in."

As I said that, Van came inside the car and sat beside Velric. But as soon as he sat, Velric stuck to me and seemed uncomfortable.

I think Velric is the type who gets uneasy around strangers. So I moved Velric to the window-side seat and sat beside Van.

"Your father called me to perform the ritual for a death anniversary. I think it’s someone important."

So Father has called a priest to perform the ritual for my mother’s death anniversary. But he never did this before, so why all of a sudden?

"Silas, what are you thinking?"

"Nothing."

"How have you been these days? You’re looking skinnier than the last time we met."

"Really? I’m eating fine these days, and I don’t think I’m getting skinny at all. In fact, I was thinking I’m gaining some weight."
