Seojun stood motionless, as if rooted to the ground. He didn’t dare move. With every step, Park Jisun drew closer—like a slowly approaching sentence of judgment.
One thought spun through the demon’s mind: "Take Haebin and run. Now. Before it’s too late."
Suddenly, through the shattered door, a child’s voice burst into the room:
"Seojun! Brother, is that you?!"
Death Icon spun around. At the far end of the room, behind a steel grate, stood his younger brother.
Haebin. Alive. Whole. Tears of joy streamed down his face. His eyes shone with unconditional trust.
"Haebin..." the demon murmured, warmth lighting his eyes for the first time in ages.
"I always knew you’d come for me!"
Those words crashed down on Seojun with the full weight of love—and guilt. In that moment, he forgot everything: the fight, the pain, the plan.
And that was all it took.
Jisun seized the moment of weakness. In one motion, he lunged, his feet crashing into the demon’s chest with a sickening crunch. Several ribs gave way under the force.
