Chapter 10: Secrets aren’t meant to be shared
Charlotte and Stelle had been waiting for almost two hours outside the narrow gap in the wall. Fortunately, they were attacked only once so they rested enough.
"Big Sis, don't you think he's strange?" Stelle asked, giving a side glance to the narrow gap.
"How so?" Charlotte asked in curiosity.
"I don't know. I'm just getting this strange feeling from him and you know I'm never wrong about these things," Stelle said. "He... he's weird."
"Do you think he harbours malicious intent..." Charlotte asked.
"No, that is what surprised me the most," Stelle shook her head, still puzzled about the whole situation. "I can sense that he... cares about us? Yeah, he definitely cares about us. Also, when he was joking, he never once looked at us in the wrong way."
"I also noticed it," Charlotte nodded.
They were both beautiful and had their share of trouble with men. They were used to seeing lecherous looks from men, even though many tried to hide them.
Even though it was probably not intentional, they did look at their bodies in a way that the girls didn't like. It helped that Stelle's weird intuition always came to their aid and she could tell which men harboured ill intent towards them.
But Max was different. Even though they had met only once, his eyes were filled with genuine care towards them. His gaze was pure and full of admiration.
They couldn't understand how or why he looked at them like that. Why he cared so much about people he had met only a few minutes ago? It didn't make sense.
