Chapter 379 - 379: Possesing
It seemed as though the end of the world was about to descend upon Earth. This was the calm before the storm, and the entire world had fallen into silence.
It was unclear where on Earth this place was, but it was a vast, flat plateau. In the distance, one could vaguely make out mountains carved with ravines and towering peaks. It looked somewhat similar to the Kunlun Mountains Blaine had once seen on a map of China, or perhaps the Himalayas.
At this moment, atop knee-high grass, several figures stood tall and straight. Counting carefully, there were seven or eight of them.
Although there were only seven or eight people, the aura they released alone caused the surrounding weeds to sway without any wind. Invisibly, with them at the center, the nearby flowers and trees shook violently, as if battered by a fierce gale.
From afar, the scene was not only bizarre, but deeply unsettling. There was clearly no wind anywhere nearby. Silence stretched for dozens of miles, yet everything around these few figures was in wild motion.
Not only flowers and trees, but also the ancient beasts hidden in the grass—saber-toothed creatures, boars as massive as rhinoceroses, leopards the size of horses, four-legged whales, ants as large as tigers, and more—were all trembling in the shadows. One by one, they lay prone on the ground. Despite their ferocious appearances, they were as docile as house cats at this moment.
There was no other reason for this—only the overwhelming aura radiating from those people, emanating from the depths of their beings.
Among them, one figure stood out the most. Dressed entirely in black, he gripped a trident tightly in his hand and wore a hood that concealed his face. He was tall and well-built, yet compared to the surrounding beasts, his body appeared much weaker.
However, the aura surrounding this man seemed to condense into something tangible, raging outward with him at the center. The knee-high grass around him was flattened to the ground.
When Blaine saw this person, his eyes went wide. Toward him, Blaine felt an indescribable sensation—both unfamiliar and strangely familiar. Judging by the man's height and black robe, he closely resembled Blaine's current self.
Yet the strange thing was that the trident he held was not the Dragon Trident Blaine now wielded. Blaine had already asked the system, and there was no record of such a weapon in its storage. The system had never even seen that trident before. This left Blaine even more astonished.
The scene continued.
Following the gazes of these people, without exception, they were all staring at the same place. It was the crimson mass occupying half the sky. No—it was more like blood condensed together, on the verge of dripping down.
The blood-red expanse did not resemble burning clouds at all. If someone claimed that countless beings had been slaughtered in the heavens, that blood had flowed like rivers and dyed half the sky red, Blaine would have believed it without hesitation.
Just as the image froze with everyone gazing skyward, in the next instant, the world suddenly changed. It was as if an invisible rod had stirred the blood clouds in the sky. All the clouds were drawn into a massive vortex, spinning violently, as though thrown into a colossal washing drum, vaguely forming a blood-red tornado.
As the winds and clouds surged, the animals on the plateau panicked and fled in all directions. Yet the Earth's magnetic field seemed to fall into chaos, causing them to lose all sense of direction like headless flies. Some beasts crashed headfirst into tree trunks, while others trampled smaller creatures beneath their feet in their blind terror.
