Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 28_1

"Miss Julia is already our young mistress," Wade Coleman couldn’t help but explain. He worried that if this woman unknowingly brought up Miss Ruby in front of the young master, he might become unhappy. Although he felt the young master’s true love seemed to be for the young mistress, he wasn’t certain. Without a confirmed answer, it was best not to let people constantly bring up Miss Ruby, by whom the young master had been tragically abandoned.

"Oh, what? Julia is your young mistress?" Once Rachel Bailey caught on, she exclaimed in shock. Her cry startled passing vehicles, whose occupants glanced at her several times, thinking they had encountered a madwoman. Wade simply opened the taxi door, gestured for her to get in, and said nothing more.

On the way to the hospital, no matter how Rachel Bailey combined sweet talk and firmness to get information out of him, Wade Coleman kept his lips sealed, leaving her curiosity hanging in the air.

The Rolls-Royce sped along the highway toward Lavish Garden Homes. Though it blended in with thousands of other vehicles, it couldn’t conceal its noble aura.

And yet, the person sitting inside felt somewhat at a loss. For some reason, Julia Bluen just felt out of sorts at that moment. Even though she knew she was doing a good thing, she felt as if she had done something wrong every time she faced Glades Horne’s handsome, inscrutable, and tempestuous face.

"Hmm, how come you’re here?" Julia Bluen broke the silence in the back seat.

Glades Horne turned his head to look at her, his abyssal eyes capturing her beautiful oval face. He shifted, his two powerful, iron-bar-like arms trapping Julia between his embrace and the car seat. His intense masculine scent invaded her nostrils. Looking up at him, she wasn’t afraid; instead, she bravely met his deep gaze, offering no resistance.

After they stared at each other for a long moment, Glades Horne suddenly chuckled lowly. Although the laugh was gentle, Julia could tell it was different from his usual smile. His usual smile carried indulgence, but this one held an undertone of anger.

His handsome face leaned closer, his presence increasingly overwhelming her. Glades’s eyes curved with a hint of mirth. His voice, tender and captivating yet impossible to ignore, softly entered Julia’s ear. "Julia, are you interested in becoming a criminal police officer? With your courage, it would be a waste not to."

Hearing this, Julia Bluen glared at him, unamused. This man was offering what sounded like praise, but it was actually a critique.

Having tied the knot, Julia Bluen gradually discovered that in the past twenty-six years, she had never truly fathomed this man. He was sometimes breezy, sometimes rainy, and other times like a storm complete with rain, snow, and hail—utterly unpredictable.

"Good suggestion. Not bad," Julia Bluen said, her lips curving into a smile.
