Chapter 26 Retaliation_1
Julia Bluen reined in her smile, replacing it with an apologetic one, and said to Rachel Bailey, somewhat embarrassed, "Rachel, I’m sorry, I lied to you."
Those who aren’t from affluent families don’t understand the loneliness within them. When people from these families make friends, they seldom find true ones; relationships are mostly formed over interests. If there’s no benefit to be had, they become strangers in an instant. She and Rachel Bailey had been colleagues for three years, and their friendship had become extremely deep. The deeper the friendship, the more she feared losing Rachel Bailey as a friend, so she had always been too afraid to reveal her true identity as a wealthy heiress to her good friend.
"I understand you." Rachel Bailey, supporting her bicycle, smiled at Julia Bluen with not a hint of blame in her expression.
The two of them stood by the side of the road talking, with vehicles passing back and forth. There were also many pedestrians on the sidewalk; some walked briskly, others strolled leisurely, and some idly brushed against the greenery along the road.
Suddenly, a young man dressed in black rushed up from behind Rachel Bailey. As he brushed past her, he quickly snatched the bag from around Rachel’s waist with a forceful tug, breaking the strap and causing Rachel to fall, with the bicycle toppling onto her.
The young man grabbed the bag and bolted.
"OUCH!" Rachel Bailey first cried out in pain, then began screaming, "Robbery, robbery!"
Julia Bluen was startled by the sudden turn of events. Hearing Rachel Bailey’s cry of pain, she snapped back to reality, quickly helped Rachel up, and asked with concern, "Rachel, where did you get hurt? I’ll take you to the hospital."
"Quick!" Rachel Bailey clutched Julia Bluen’s hand tightly, anxiously exclaiming, "My money, there’s over ten thousand yuan in my bag!"
