Chapter 16 Learning to Adapt to Each Other (1)_1
Scarlett Taylor picked up the little red book. When she saw the words "Marriage Certificate," she obviously froze. As she opened the booklet and saw the photo of Glades Horne and Julia Bluen, she instantly became a stone statue.
Glades Horne took the marriage certificate back from Scarlett Taylor’s hands without offering her an explanation and took Julia Bluen by the hand. While pulling her up to stand, he said to the still-petrified Scarlett Taylor, "Mom, I’m taking Julia out to eat."
"Oh, okay."
Beyond replying absentmindedly, Scarlett Taylor couldn’t think of anything. The shock was too great, preventing her from pondering why things had turned out this way.
Having received Scarlett Taylor’s response, Glades Horne walked outside with Julia Bluen.
Once they had left the Main House, they saw the sun hanging high in the sky, already scorchingly hot. Julia Bluen then realized that, unknowingly, it had reached midday.
Turning her head and looking down, she saw the strong hand gripping hers and could feel the warmth from Glades Horne’s large palm. Julia Bluen had wanted to pull her hand away but then thought of something and let Glades keep holding it.
Glades Horne guided Julia Bluen into the back seat of his car, and he too climbed in. Two Bodyguards took their places, one as the driver and the other in the front passenger seat.
Once the car door closed, Glades Horne’s powerful build pressed Julia Bluen against the car door.
