Chapter 1263: Where Were We
The phone ringing woke Kai Bright up. He irritably stretched a hand out from under the blanket, found his phone, and answered it: "Hello."
"You’re not up yet? What’s wrong, are you feeling unwell?" Lucy Wells asked worriedly when she heard Kai Bright’s sleepy voice.
"No, I’m not unwell. I just have some things to deal with lately, and I went to bed a bit late." Kai explained, "Yes, yes, I know, don’t worry... Yeah..."
After hanging up Lucia’s concerned call, Kai buried his head under the blanket, feeling terribly gloomy.
Kai glanced at the time, and then directly called Charles Seymour: "Do you have time at noon? Treat me to lunch."
After hanging up the phone, Kai quickly freshened up and drove over.
Entering the private room, Charles had already ordered the dishes, and Kai sat down to eat right away.
Charles had no complaints toward this guy who came here clearly to freeload.
"I thought about it and feel you should confess to Sophie." After eating and drinking to his heart’s content, Kai put down his chopsticks and expressed his opinion.
Charles looked at Kai. Just as he was about to speak, the phone rang, and as soon as he saw the caller ID, his cold expression softened instantly.
Kai didn’t need to ask to know it must be Sophie calling.
"I’m here with Bao, come pick us up when you’re off work." Sophie Wilson’s cheerful voice rang through the quiet private room, and Kai heard it clearly.
"Okay." Charles replied, then heard Sophie speaking to Bao on the other side, "Bao, say something to daddy."
"Daddy, mommy and I are waiting for you to be off work!" the clear child’s voice came from the phone, making Charles’ gaze become even more gentle as he answered, "Okay, daddy will come to see Bao and mommy tonight."
"Okay." Bao replied happily, and after Sophie exchanged a few words with Charles, he ended the call.
After putting down the phone, Charles looked at Kai and asked: "Where were we?"
Kai: "..."
"Did you talk to Sophie about the child?" Kai took a deep breath, trying hard to keep his voice calm as he asked.
"Yes." Charles nodded, "When two people are in love, what can’t be said?"
Kai: "..."
So, who was the idiot that came over to his place two days ago looking all melancholic to drink?
"Did you figure it out?" Kai leaned over, asking curiously, "I’m just curious about how you figured it out."
It’s rare to see Charles flustered, how long did he stay flustered this time?
How did he fix things?
"Figure what out?" Charles asked, puzzled.
"Confessing to Sophie." Kai felt like there was a cat scratching at his heart, he was too eager to know.
"That night, I went home; I thought Sophie would have gone to bed already." Charles recalled the events of that evening, his expression filled with such tenderness that Kai couldn’t help but feel envious - what had moved him so deeply?
"I didn’t expect her to be waiting for me in the living room. Once I entered the door, I was able to see her, quietly sitting on the sofa with a lamp on, warm..."
Kai suddenly understood: "You felt that that was your harbor of the soul, no matter what happens, Sophie wouldn’t get angry, she wouldn’t leave you."
