Chapter 1252: No Loss Guaranteed
"I don’t think there’s anything for us to talk about." Chloe White sat down, looking at the impeccably dressed James Reed across from her, the smile on her face polite yet distant.
"Miss White." James said with a smile, "I know you’re in love with my brother."
Chloe looked at James, her gaze flickering, then let out a sneer as she asked, "So what if I am?"
"How about this—we join forces." James wasn’t angered by Chloe’s attitude; he went on calmly, "As long as your career surpasses his, I think my brother will eventually notice what you’re capable of, Miss White."
"The reason my brother married Sophie Wilson boils down to one thing—her connections. It’s just that my brother is too shrewd; he’s never really let Sophie’s abilities show on the outside."
"Charles isn’t that kind of person!" Chloe said with firm conviction.
James smiled, and asked unhurriedly, "Then why does my brother like Sophie, when their paths in life didn’t intersect at all?"
"Then it must be Sophie who seduced your brother!" Chloe concluded without the slightest hesitation. Charles was absolutely blameless—if anyone was at fault, it was Sophie.
"Whatever the case, I just want to ask you one thing, Miss White—do you want to work with me?" James asked with a smile.
"Work on what?" Chloe asked. "What products does your company make?"
"Health supplements." James answered with a smile. "Supplements that can strengthen the body."
"Huh?" Chloe couldn’t help laughing. "That stuff is hardly as effective as it claims."
"Our company’s products target two markets, the high-end and the mid-range." James said with a smile. "I’ve got a sample here—Miss White can take it home and have a look."
Chloe looked at James in front of her and shook her head in disappointment. Right now he was like some clumsy salesman; this kind of thing, she didn’t believe in at all.
Given the level her family was at now, what kind of tonic hadn’t they seen?
The health supplements on the market, to put it bluntly, are basically things you take that don’t have much impact on the body and aren’t harmful, but as for the so-called efficacy—not that there’s none, but you have to take them over a long period.
And that kind of effect, you could achieve just as well through diet therapy plus exercise.
"All right, I’ll go home and study it properly." Chloe said with a smile, then picked up the product James had given her, grabbed her bag, and left.
James could certainly see that Chloe was just going through the motions, but he merely smiled. He knew that in the end she would definitely cooperate with him.
After James wrapped up his talk with Chloe, he hadn’t expected to nail anything down today anyway. The company’s production lines were already fully set up, and the first batch of products had of course been manufactured and put on the market.
Unsurprisingly, very few consumers came to buy.
It was a brand-new product with no advertising; the flagship stores were done up very upscale, but for an unknown product like this—especially a health supplement—who would buy it?
With business going like this, James wasn’t anxious at all, but Ethan Seymour was worried sick.
Ethan was spinning in circles with anxiety and cautiously said to James, "James, you can’t rush a product. Having a good product is one thing, but you’ve got to open up the market too, right?"
"If you just keep producing without selling, how are you going to get your capital back?" Ethan asked with a frown.
"Dad, with this product of mine, as long as we build up word of mouth, that’s enough." James said with a smile. "Don’t worry, we won’t lose money."
