Chapter 1164: Bullying Her Mr. Seymour?
"I’m here as your guest. Is making your guests unhappy the White Family’s idea of hospitality?" Sophie Wilson frowned in displeasure, calling out Chloe White.
"What’s going on?" As the head of White Corporation, Edward White hurried over and began "scolding" Chloe. "Chloe, is this how you treat our guests? How can you make such a rookie mistake? Is there some kind of misunderstanding?"
"Dad, I just wanted to say a few words to Miss Wilson. I didn’t expect Miss Wilson to misunderstand." Chloe White seized the chance to explain. "I wanted Miss Wilson to try to persuade Mr. Seymour to improve his relationship with his father."
"Am I close with you?" Charles Seymour’s icy voice sounded. The onlookers who had gathered to watch the drama instantly parted, opening a path for Charles to walk in.
Charles’s cold gaze swept over Chloe, making her shudder on the spot. S-so scary!
His presence was even stronger than when he was a kid, and correspondingly, he was even more charismatic.
Others were intimidated by the chill and violence in Charles’s aura, but to Chloe White, that was exactly where his charm lay.
The more imposing Charles was, the more obsessed she became, her heart racing.
His daughter had just been embarrassed by Charles, so of course Edward White had to step in, even if the other party was the chairman of Peace Group. "President Seymour, Chloe meant well."
"Chloe, you too—why are you meddling in other people’s family affairs?" Edward turned his head and pretended to scold Chloe. "You just got back from abroad. If you don’t understand something, don’t talk nonsense."
Chloe bit her lip, then looked straight at Charles and said openly, "Sorry, President Seymour, I overstepped just now. I just felt that, in the end, you’re family. What can’t be talked through?"
Charles fixed his eyes on Chloe and spoke. "You should apologize to my fiancée."
Chloe froze, staring at Charles in disbelief. She really hadn’t expected him to defend Sophie Wilson this much.
What’s so great about Sophie?
A woman who lives clinging to a man—does she really deserve this kind of protection from him?
No matter how disdainful Chloe felt inside, none of it showed on her face. She smiled and said, "Miss Wilson, I’m sorry, I was being nosy just now."
With a dark expression, Sophie stared at Chloe and said, "Miss White, I really hope that in future you’ll stop relying on your own imagination to make decisions for other people."
She’d already apologized, so why was Sophie still pressing the issue?
Chloe disliked Sophie more and more in her heart, while Edward instead chuckled and tried to smooth things over. "Miss Wilson, Chloe only just returned from abroad and doesn’t really know the situation. She meant well. Sorry about that, truly."
Given Edward’s age and status, and since he’d said this much, Sophie naturally couldn’t keep pushing.
This matter seemed like it could only be let go.
But don’t forget, with such a commotion here, how could Ethan Seymour pass up the chance to come over and stir the pot?
"Miss White, don’t waste your breath. Some people have long since gotten used to being heartless and ungrateful, so how would they ever realize they’re in the wrong?" Ethan’s words didn’t cause the slightest ripple in Charles’s expression, but they did make Sophie’s brows furrow.
Damn, is this Ethan actually brain-dead?
Does he really have to hog the spotlight every second of the day?
Picking on her Mr. Seymour?
If she doesn’t fix Ethan up until he’s shining bright like a golden, rainbow-blazing beacon, then all these years she’s lived have been for nothing!
