Chapter 90:Blackmail
Roland’s vision turned red with rage.
"You touched my sons?" he asked, voice low but full of thunder.
The nearest man turned, laughing as if it were a joke. "And who the hell are you—?"
Roland’s eyes narrowed. "I am their father."
The man’s smirk vanished, replaced by caution. "Well, that’s good then... Pay me up."
"Pay you?" Roland muttered, clearly surprised. His cold gaze fell on Nil.
"Father, it’s our fault," Nil admitted, looking down. "We were on the street when a man came to us and said we could play card games and other fun stuff for just one gold coin."
"I told Noah not to go, but he cried and made a big scene. So, I gave in and we played. But then the man said we had to use this token. We kept losing, and now they want us to pay out of nowhere."
Roland stared at Nil. He wanted to scold him right there but held himself back. Hitting the kids here might leave a deep scar on them. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
"How much did they lose?" he asked in a firm but steady voice. "Let’s not make a scene. I’ll pay."
The man licked his lips and smirked, his eyes gleaming strangely. "1,000 gold coins."
A confused frown crossed Roland’s face. "How much?"
