Chapter 48: Drunk
The three-person celebration continued for a while until Aria suddenly received an urgent call, prompting her to leave, leaving only Ethan and Lillian behind.
Lillian, on the other hand, was extremely lightweight. It was obvious she was already drunk after just two bottles of wine—but for some reason, she kept at it, and the results?
Well...
"~You know," she slurred, "we’re still strangers. Kinda. I mean—I barely know anything about you..."
Lillian had completely shed her usual shy and reserved shell around him. The alcohol seemed to have worked some kind of magic transforming her into a chatterbox.
Ethan just raised a brow, but didn’t interrupt her chatter, after all, even he was curious about how she saw him.
"But for some reason," she continued, her voice dropping to a softer and confused whisper, "I can’t help but trust you. It’s really weird."
He continued listening.
"I thought it’ll be really hard to make friends again after —" she paused, probably thinking of an unpleasant memory from her expression.
"Alright," he said gently, standing up and moving to her side. "That’s enough wine for tonight."
She pouted, "just one more gla—"
"Nope."
