Chapter 23: Luke’s Suspicions
"So, you saw me and Alvida together, didn't you?" I ask after listening to her explanation.
Lana nods, her gaze fixed on the ground.
"Then, what was that all about?" I press further, feigning anger.
"I'm sorry, Master!" Lana blurts out, bowing her head rapidly while her eyes are almost teary.
"But more importantly, Lana..." I begin, the atmosphere in the room shifting. Lana stiffens, sensing the change as I narrow my eyes at her. "You're not just a normal maid, are you? Something feels off. I didn't notice at first, but now... I have my suspicions." I say, pressing my finger to her forehead.
"Probe." The moment the word leaves my lips, I'm hit with a barrage of error messages from my system. "Probe," a hidden skill far more advanced than "Inspect," usually reveals deeper insights about a person. But this time, it failed.
Whenever I use "Inspect" on Lana, it shows the stats of an ordinary maid—something I now know is fake. The fact that "Probe" didn't work means she's either hiding her true power... or she's something beyond my understanding.
