Chapter 61 Magic charm
After the meeting ended, Alina felt her heart thudding all the way down the corridor. She still couldn’t believe it how she’d spoken in front of Dante’s sharp eyes, Professor Hobb’s scowl, Miss Kelly’s cold glare... and Gabriel’s smile that somehow held her together. She pressed her hand to her chest, feeling her heartbeat echo all the way into he fingertips.
When she stepped back outside, the evening breeze in the hallway cooled her flushed face. And by the time she reached the path that led to her little house, she couldn’t help but smile.
She slipped her key into the door, pushed it open, and stepped inside. Her little house always looked the same, soft warm walls, a simple couch, tidy kitchen. But when she walked over to the fridge to grab water, she nearly jumped. It was full again — fresh bread, her favorite snacks, fruit she loved. Even the shelf by the sink was stocked with new soap, a fresh towel, and extra things she hadn’t realized she was missing.
Alina stared at the fridge door, hugging the bottle of water to her chest like it might explain itself. When did they do this? She knew she hadn’t left anything unlocked– she’d double-checked before class.
Curiosity prickled her. Without waiting, she grabbed her phone and typed out a short message to the principal’s official email, fingers tapping nervously. "Sir, who comes into my house to stock my food and other things?" She hesitated then hit send.
The reply came only a minute later — short, cold, and somehow funny in that deadpan way Dante always spoke.
"Magic. No one enters. We have placed a magic charm on your house. According to your needs and human needs. your supplies will restock automatically."
Alina blinked at her phone, then read the line again. Magic charm... no one enters... She couldn’t help the tiny laugh that bubbled up. She plopped down on her couch, hugging her knees and giggling into her hand. "Well, if I ever lose this job," she whispered to herself, "I’ll just find that magic charm and run away with it."
She smiled to herself, the stress from the meeting melting away little by little. After a long shower, she tied her hair into a loose bun, pulled on her comfy clothes, and padded barefoot into her kitchen. She hummed under her breath as she made something warm and simple for herself.
After she finished her simple dinner, Alina washed her dish and wiped down her tiny kitchen counter until it shone. She felt the calmest she had all day like her busy heart had finally settled back into her chest.
She dried her hands, slipped into her slippers, and went to her room to grab her secondhand laptop. She carried it to the small desk by her window. It opened with a soft hum, the old keys warm under her fingers. The screen’s glow lit up her sleepy eyes, but she didn’t mind. She felt determined tonight.
Alina sipped the last of her tea as she typed in search words like fun kindergarten worksheets, easy learning games, art ideas for kids. She knew her cute babies needed extra help with their focus, and she wanted to make learning feel fun — something even a grumpy wolf pup or a shy shadow demon would look forward to.
