A breathless silence followed.
Member One was the first to recover, slamming a palm down on the table. "So what now? We have to accept a hybrid heir? Unacceptable! This goes against the entire foundation of our order. We are meant to protect our existence, not endanger it!"
"It’s a true blood," Veyron said. "I cannot give you details. But I have examined the child myself."
Veyron leaned forward. "And we have to protect her. And the child. That said, the king has tasked me with finding a doctor familiar with werewolf biology. Someone trusted. Someone loyal. I need someone who would lay down their life protecting the royal heir, no matter what."
"Is the prince still dying?" the woman asked.
"I’m afraid so," he finally said.

He paused, tilting his head. A scent curled toward him through the breeze.
A rustle, a few awkward footfalls, and then a voice: "Excuse me? Excuse me?"
Morvakar didn’t lift his head. "Move on, human," he replied coolly, brushing soil from his fingers.
But the voice persisted. "Morvakar, right?"
