Chapter 58: Organizing Evidence
"Are you hungry? Want to grab something to eat?"
Faced with Kevin’s considerate question, Jessie nodded. After spending time together, she had a much better impression of him. Even though they were only married by name, he was someone very reliable for her. Unknowingly, their relationship seemed to have become a bit closer.
He was just about to find a restaurant when her phone rang. She hung up in annoyance, even blocking the number. Ever since her relatives had leaked her phone number, she had been receiving countless calls from strangers.
Just seconds after hanging up, Kevin’s phone rang.
"Kevin, is Jessie in a bad mood? Why did she hang up on me, too?"
Jessie was taken aback. Did she just hang up on Grandpa Harper?
She quickly took his phone. "Grandpa, I’m so sorry. I thought it was a spam call earlier."
Grandpa Harper didn’t take it to heart, his voice gentle. "Jessie, I saw the news online. Don’t let them affect you. Kevin knows a lot of people, so he can help you resolve this, okay?"
"If this brat doesn’t help you, just tell me; I’ll give him a good lesson! You are husband and wife, so you should help each other more."
He didn’t usually go online, mostly spending time playing chess and growing flowers. The online news was something he heard from one of his grandsons, prompting him to check his phone.
The headline was about Kevin and Julia Rossi’s rumored affair, while Jessie’s story had died down. Yet, he was still worried it would affect Jessie.
Hearing Grandpa Harper’s words, Jessie quickly explained, "Grandpa, Kevin has been with me all day and trying to help me in every way."
