Chapter 35: Clearing Up Misunderstandings
However, could Kevin really just suspect she was cheating on him the moment he saw her with Steve?
Wasn’t that just bullying?
She grabbed the bag from the sofa and threw it at Kevin with force. It was filled with books and magazines, hitting his chest rather painfully.
Kevin’s eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Jessie. In all these years, no one had ever dared treat him this way.
"What are you doing?!" he asked, swallowing his pride.
Jessie gave a cold snort, stepping right in front of him before snapping in a stern voice.
"Mr. Harper, don’t you think that you deserved that after saying such things to me?
"I was just delivering items to the store today, and that’s why I took the back road in the Quiet River Community. Since you saw me with Steve, you should also know how dark it was then and how many thugs were around. I was almost harassed by a group of them, and it was Steve who showed up and saved me.
"I called you first, thinking you might have returned by then to ask for your help, but you didn’t even pick up the phone. Shouldn’t I thank someone else who helped me? Besides, I didn’t do anything with him beyond normal gratitude and interaction, yet in your eyes, you already thought I was cheating on you.
"Don’t think I’m being harsh. Your thoughts are your own problem and have nothing to do with me. Please don’t put your ideas on me. As that saying goes online, ’If your outlook is skewed, you will think others are, too.’ Perhaps the reason why you keep being suspicious of me is because you’ve done such things."
