Chapter 705: 120. Dream (7k)

The night at Mia was rather cold, and the camp set up by the Snow Fox Species could hardly be considered luxurious; moreover, perhaps because they were generally mini-sized, the tents were just tall enough to reach Mr. Fisher’s belly.

Still, it was Mr. Fisher who slightly modified their tents so they could barely fit all the humans.

After receiving Healing from the Snow Fox Species, Balzac’s condition had gradually stabilized, and he was now lying inside the tent resting, while Celti was still somewhat dazed and thus simply holed up inside the tent and didn’t come out.

Unexpectedly, of all his subordinates, Philis, who usually seemed the least reliable, was now the one who was the most composed and even helped Mr. Fisher set up the tent while whistling.

Mr. Fisher glanced at the casually composed Philis beside him and casually asked,

“Didn’t you leave all your money back in Mia? How come you don’t seem to care at all? You were such a money-grubber before.”

“Oh, you don’t know. After leaving the South Continent, I’ve been through several similar situations, like getting shot while on a mission, being chased by humans all over town, being captured by enemies… Anyways, each time I encountered this kind of thing, I ended up losing quite an amount of wealth.”

However, her tone took a turn there, and she immediately started laughing, giving Mr. Fisher a rather astute look, and at the same time, she gave a thumbs-up,

“At first I was quite angry, but later I suddenly realized that it seems every time I encounter such dangerous situations, I only lose a bit of money, and I myself am still well and alive. I began to think that maybe it was because I lost wealth that I avoided disaster. And…”

Before she could finish speaking, she stealthily moved closer to Mr. Fisher, opening her coat a bit, and Mr. Fisher, following the gap of her opened coat, saw that she had dozens of shiny gold bars strapped to her chest.

Mr. Fisher looked at her in some surprise, and Philis also blinked at Mr. Fisher, chuckling,

“See, I’m not completely broke down to my underpants yet.”

“…”

It turned out that this guy also had a rather clever side to her.

Mr. Fisher did not respond to her comment, the sky had gradually darkened, and a bonfire was lit in the camp. Although the temperature rose quite a bit, it still felt cold, so the mini Snow Fox Species formed a small circle and gathered around the fire to warm themselves.

It wasn’t until Juna sat down and opened the basket in her hands that Mr. Fisher realized the basket she had been carrying around actually contained several very young Snow Fox Species.

The group of ravenous little Snow Foxes, much like a bunch of tiny kittens, except that they were dressed in tiny clothes and could speak human languages, piqued Mr. Fisher’s curiosity,

“Aunty… Aunty, hungry…”

Mr. Fisher glanced at Juna, whose white fox face quickly shook and she hugged a wailing white little Snow Fox in her arms, explaining to Mr. Fisher,

“These children are my sister’s offspring; sadly, both she and her husband have been struck by the epidemic. It’s not safe in the clan now, so to avoid these children from getting sick as well, I had to take them out for care.”

“I see… Let’s eat something quickly, I will prepare the magic for absorbing the Decomposition Agent for you, and when we go back, your clan members will be safe and sound.”

“Yeah, thank you, Mr. Fisher.”

Dinner was far from sumptuous; the Snow Fox Species hadn’t brought back many wild animals, only a few rabbits and snow mice that had been successfully ambushed and consequently couldn’t escape. The meat was scanty and full of bones, and the cooked meat was dry and tough, very unappetizing.

Apparently, Mr. Fisher and his group didn’t have much of an appetite either. Heidlin cut off a few pieces with her knife and fed some to Valentina, who after only eating a few pieces nearly threw it all up, whereas Philis and the group of Snow Fox Species heartlessly gnawed on the chunks of meat.

The wind was strong at night in Mia, and although the Snow Fox Species’ camp was located in a leeward spot blocked by rocks, one still couldn’t stay outside for long.

During this time, Valentina had always remained silent. After having a simple dinner, she excused herself due to fatigue and went to her tent to rest, leaving Heidlin watching her frail figure with considerable worry.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something to comfort the lady, but somehow couldn’t speak and could only purse her lips and stay silent where she stood.

And behind her, Mr. Fisher, who was somewhat perfunctorily responding to Juna’s non-stop talking, was actually always watching Valentina, observing her as she wobbled her wheelchair back into the tent, Mr. Fisher stroked his chin thoughtfully.

In the dead of night, in a silent camp where the bonfire had gone out, leaving only the howling night wind slashing like a knife against the large rocks that protected the camp, the area was still not as cold.

Under the gaze of the pale and bright moon in the night sky, at some unknown time, there was a slight rustling sound from Valentina’s tent.

Before long, Valentina quietly pushed her wheelchair out of the tent. Her clothes hadn’t been changed, which meant she hadn’t rested at all but sat in the wheelchair until the last person returned to their tent.

The nights in Mia were too cold; almost no creature could walk in such harsh cold, so there was no need for a night watch.

And just like now, even though most of the cold winds were blocked by the large rocks, Valentina still felt bone-chillingly cold, causing her petite body to shiver uncontrollably.
