Capítulo 694: 116. Standoff Across Space (Two-in-One)_4
“Found you, Erwin.”
Fisher drilled through the massive tentacle beneath him, then grabbed Valentina’s wheelchair with one hand, and with the other, he thrust his Fluid Sword into the wall of the elevator shaft. Accompanied by a screeching friction and Valentina’s screams, they descended rapidly until they completely vanished.
…
In the corridor of the second floor of the hotel, a Lion-man girl engulfed in Flames wielded a huge sword, swinging it constantly. The dense, swirling winds around her blade, enwrapped by the magic of Flames, cleaved through the incessantly attacking tentacles. Who else could it be if not the forgotten Philis of Heidlin?
“Ha ha ha, using magic to ignite my blade before striking is truly effective, this is simply the greatest invention of the century!”
She burst into laughter, her hands moving swiftly as if she was boasting about her creative new invention.
In fact, the magic Fisher had given her was a Four Ring wall of Flames. Initially, if the magic was fully activated with Magic Power, a spectacular wall of Flames would rise. But whether it was because Philis’s brain wasn’t quite right or her Magic Power was insufficient to trigger the magic, this Four Ring magic appeared more like a One Ring campfire with intermittent Flames, turning into the current sad state of a “Flame Enchantment.”
The huge tentacles were continuously being slashed by her, the fighting lineage of the Lion-man species fully awakened. Far from exhausted, she danced faster and faster. Many of the tentacles growing along the corridor were quickly slaughtered, leaving only the distinct traces of burning Flames on the ground.
“Is it over… Eh, how did I get to the second floor…?”
She suddenly stopped, turning to look back, only then realizing she had fought her way from the third floor to the second. She stood there silly, just about to head back to look for Heidlin and Valentina, when she suddenly felt a very terrifying presence behind her.
Philis’s muscles tensed briefly, and she turned her head like her fur had exploded, only to see a sticky, hopping blob of Blood Flesh creeping closer towards her, which, although seemingly more harmless than the massive tentacles, inexplicably struck terror into Philis.
“Gurgle…”
The blob of Blood Flesh trembled, glanced up at Philis standing there with her sword raised alertly, and in the next moment, it slightly lifted one of its tentacles. That smaller tentacle instantly turned into a blur as it struck Philis.
“Buzz!”
Philis’s hair stood on end; she pushed her muscles to their limits to raise her sword for the block. That might have been the fastest she’d raised her sword since she began learning combat. The blade intercepted the tentacle that was about to hit her, but the tentacle ruthlessly sliced through the sword she held, severing it amidst an incredibly piercing metallic mourn. Philis staggered back several steps.
“Roar!”
She roared like a lion, a deep gash on her cheek oozing strands of crimson blood. Had she not immediately discarded her sword and fled, the tentacle would have severed her neck right then…
Something was not right about this creature; it was even more terrifying than those massive tentacles outside.
The chunk of flesh retracted its tendrils and promptly prepared for the next attack. Philis’s muffin ears perked up slightly as she glanced at the blade that had snapped into two pieces on the ground, and then at the flesh preparing to attack in the distance. Her gaze chilled slightly as she wiped the blood off her cheek…
Then, she immediately turned and fled down the corridor behind her, scrambling with her hands and feet, while shouting loudly,
“Boss! Miss Heidlin! Fisher! Old Ba! Come quick! There’s an enemy! Someone’s trying to steal the Ice!”
The small piece of flesh manipulated by Erwin halted its tendrils mid-air, watching the Lion-man species flee desperately, stunned in place for a full second…
But soon, he couldn’t be bothered with Philis, who had run out of sight. He hopped to the door concealing the Ice, lifted his tendrils, and cut through both the door and the wall, revealing the shimmering Ice inside…
And, beneath it, the mechanism containing four Seals.
The flesh raised its tendrils but suddenly felt the temperature behind it skyrocket, making it difficult even for its specially-made biological weapon body of about Tenth Rank to bear. It turned, rather surprised, to see Fisher, holding the Fluid Sword, coldly staring at it.
“Erwin, the eye that met mine earlier was just your trickery, wasn’t it?”
“Yes, if my consciousness had been in that ‘Blood Flesh Giant Tree’ earlier, I wouldn’t have been so surprised now… Your growth rate has exceeded my expectations. It’s not just the effect of the Soul Completion Manual; your body shouldn’t be this strong. I’m suddenly curious what precious knowledge is recorded in that unknown manual of yours that lets your soul morph this way and still maintain sanity.”
Fisher raised his Fluid Sword and methodically removed the magic spells from his body,
“Although I don’t know if you’re really talking or it’s just an illusion, I’m about to blast you into the sky… And your real body won’t escape unscathed soon either.”
“Illusion?”
The flesh bearing Erwin’s consciousness paused briefly, then his gender-ambiguous voice carried a very clear mockery,
“It seems my judgment about you wasn’t entirely correct. Aren’t you starting to get it? Welcome to our group, seeker of truth, Fisher Benavides.”
After this simple sentence, the small, harmless-looking tendrils suddenly swelled, twisting and molding the soft flesh again and again until it became a flesh giant almost reaching the room’s ceiling, barely stopping. On what could be called its head, a ferocious eye suddenly opened, turbidly reflecting Fisher’s form.
“Actually, what you did in the South Continent to Philone doesn’t really matter at all. His connection was only unilateral with that brainless Artificial Intelligence. Even if you hadn’t acted then, I would have still gone to the South Continent to kill him and take the Soul Completion Manual later… Unfortunately, Philone had only just received the Soul Completion Manual, so I couldn’t experience the effects of reading soul knowledge from him. But now, looking at you, that strong and twisted soul, you are exactly what I need for my purpose…”
“You will have no grave after reaching Wutong and Myth, even the Death Rune granted by the Demon Species won’t protect you.”
Despite the creature in front of him being only a creation bearing Erwin’s consciousness, Erwin’s mad will was still clearly perceived by Fisher, as if it intended to completely devour him.
