Chapter 666: 106. The Mystery of Derivative Species (Two in One)_3

Magic was necessary; he needed to study the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual for his Source Magic Book to test the soul enhancement intensity of the Completion Manual and to continue reading the Soul Completion Manual.

At the door of the room assigned to them, Fisher encountered Mr. Balzac, who looked somewhat unwell. He was holding a cup of steaming coffee, his face pale and with very obvious dark circles under his eyes. Upon seeing Fisher, he even greeted him,

“Mr. Fisher.”

“…You look unwell, are you sick?”

Fisher examined his unusually pale face, which looked frighteningly like anemia, beyond what one would explain by “lack of sleep last night.”

“Ah, a bit. Mia is, after all, at the northern end of the Northern Realm. It’s much colder than other places. The temperature difference has been huge traveling around these past few months. Plus, I am a native of the Western Continent and my body can’t handle it. Moreover, last night I researched all night where to find the Slime Species, and I felt quite unwell this morning…”

Fisher’s expression became odd. He glanced at Philis’s room behind Mr. Balzac, hesitated for a second, and then spoke,

“Last night, Miss Valentina and I encountered several members of the Slime Species. We learned about the living conditions of the Slime Species from them. They all moved out of the Northern Realm. Fortunately, their leader is sensible and has already given the seal to Miss Valentina… Didn’t Philis notify you this morning?”

Balzac’s pale face froze for a moment, and then he turned furiously to look at Philis’s closed room, coughing while cursing,

“That damned fat cat is not only brainless, she also holds a grudge against me, wishing I would die in the lab! Damn it… I’m going to pull her tail out; I read documents and news records all night and even took notes! Damn it, Philis, get the hell out here!”

Inside Philis’s room, it was very quiet, but a maid cleaning the hallway behind cautiously spoke up,

“Mr. Balzac, that demi-human lady just went out to buy some things. She’s not in the room now…”

“Damn!”

Originally, Balzac was ill from reading documents and records all night. Now even more angered, Fisher was afraid he would faint from rage. Fisher quickly patted his shoulder and advised,

“Miss Valentina had almost no sleep last night, so there was a lapse in notifying Philis this morning. She should have asked Heidlin to tell you… Now, Mr. Balzac, your current physical condition isn’t good. You should go back and rest. The Slime Species matter doesn’t need to be considered anymore. It will be days before the Snow Fox Species arrives. Take some time to adjust your condition.”

Despite feeling gnashing irritation, Balzac looked at Philis’s room once more but thought Fisher made sense. He handed the books he was holding to the maid, thanked Fisher, and returned to his room to rest.

Fisher didn’t linger in the hallway. He quickly returned to his own room, locked the door, and soon took out the dozing Emhardt and the few pages of ancient fragments of the Source Magic Book.

It seemed the knowledge in the Completion Manual was indeed highly hazardous. Emhardt had merely tried recording a bit of its content and had ended up like this, spending half his day asleep. Fisher wasn’t quite used to not having him around to cause trouble, but since Emhardt said he was gradually recovering, Fisher had to believe him.

He laid Emhardt on the pillow and then took the ancient fragments to the table in his room and spread them out. The text was densely written, which gave Fisher a headache upon looking because it was written in “Ancient Human Language,” which is recognized by modern humans as the most ancient language and known for its obscurity, somewhat similar to Ancient Kado Language.

Fortunately, Fisher could understand Ancient Kado Language, but he was not very familiar with modern Kado Language, as essentially, the two were not the same language.

Ancient Human Language should be the ancestor of all modern human languages. Although the academic world has not yet confirmed its connection to the languages of the Southern Continent people, Fisher already knew that the humans of the Southern Continent also came from the Western Continent, making their relationship quite clear.

Previously, it was mentioned that Fisher often had to study Magic Origins from Kado during his time at the Royal College, which were written in Ancient Kado Language. The text in this Source Magic Book was written in Ancient Human Language, suggesting that the Source Magic Book is older than any other recorded Magic Book—no wonder it is known as the Source Magic Book…

Fisher took a deep breath and focused on the content of the fragments. Although it was quite challenging even with his proficiency in Ancient Kado Language, he managed to understand the general meaning.

The first page of the fragment was incomplete. It seemed there was content before it, but due to being torn, its message was also somewhat difficult to understand,

“The so-called Magic of Stars does not refer to magic related to the stars in the sky, those visible at night by the naked eye come from suns at unimaginably vast distances from humanity, and they, like the nearest one to you, possess energy too immense to be harnessed by human power; the ‘Magic of Stars’ I teach thee originates from deeper within the world, in a soul world that completely overlaps with the world you inhabit, where countless consciousnesses live like stars.” Read full story at novelꞁire.net
