Chapter 650: 101. Calculating or Not_2
The Slime King smiled with his pacifier popped back into his mouth, and the other slimes cloaked in false skin also turned their gaze towards Fisher, seemingly waiting for his response.
Fisher exchanged a look with Emhardt cradled in his arms and said with a wry, somewhat bemused smile,
“This is the first time I’m ever hearing about my great capabilities, that even my personal connections can serve as a bargaining chip.”
“Ah, you’re part of it, and so are those women related to you… At least before your affairs come to light, your connections are still very useful. We will deplete this favor before they come to know of each other, rest assured.”
“In that case, do we have a deal?”
Fisher nodded, agreeing to the slime’s demands, and upon the Slime King’s consent, he stepped forward to the statue of the Frost Snow Wutong Tree and gently picked up the round Slime Imprint. Just like the other Seals, in the center of this oval imprint, there was a figure twisted out of gel, respectfully looking up at the statue of the Frost Snow Phoenix Tree in the sky.
And with that, the fourth of the Six Clans’ Mark had successfully been acquired.
“Very good, Mixed Blood child, I quite enjoy doing business with you… Seeing as you’re so straightforward, I’ll give you two extra gifts…”
He clapped his hands, and a giant slime behind him delicately placed an item into Kexie Ning’s hands, who stood by the stone basin. Fisher focused his gaze and saw it was a semi-transparent, lid-like round shield with tentacles twisting around its front, similar to the tentacles forming the Slime crown.
This was a relic and a fine one at that.
“This item is gifted to you, called the ‘Slime Ring.’ It’s one of the treasures bestowed upon my grandfather by the Phoenixes. It can protect the person carrying it three times. Counting the times my grandfather and father used it, it still has one use left.”
Fisher reached out and took the circular shield. Only upon holding it did he realize that the shield felt as soft as the body of a slime. In the next moment, the tentacles came to life and wrapped around Fisher’s arm, ring by ring, the cold sensation feeling quite magical.
“As for the other thing, if you’re searching for the Seals of the Six Clans, the other races’ should not be hard to find. The Grey Bird Species’ Seal should have been carried into the graves by their descendants, while the Moon Rabbit Species, Snow Fox Species, and Cloud Cat Species’ are safely guarded by their clans. Only the Trolls’ Seal you guys might find rather troublesome, no?”
Hearing a clue about the near-extinct Troll’s Seal, Fisher pricked up his ears, attentively listening to what the other said. The Slime King raised a finger and said to Fisher, who seemed to be mumbling to themselves,
“You must have gotten the entry location of the Frost Snow Wutong Tree by now. But the actual entrance is a significant distance from the spot marked on the map; that is ‘tree foot.’ It was initially where the Grey Bird Species used to reside. However, after an incident within the Wutong Tree, the Trolls guarded the area and prohibited any living being from entering the Wutong Tree.”
“The ancestors of the Grey Bird Species, my father, and the ancestors of the other three races, all attempted to enter and discover the truth of what occurred within the Wutong Tree but were all stopped outside… Heh, the Moon Princess issued a death command. From the time everyone remembered the Phoenix Species to now, when they’ve become nothing but myth, the Trolls have stood sentinel there. Any creature that trespasses is slaughtered.”
“If you have already gathered all the Seals, then go to the ‘tree foot’ and negotiate with those female-worshipping Trolls. I’m not certain you’ll succeed, but trying won’t hurt. If not, we shall send someone to retrieve the Seals again.”
Grasping the Seal in his hand, Fisher fell silent for a moment, then committed all the information he had been told to memory,
“Thank you. I’ll relay this message to those in charge.”
“Ha-ha, that settles it, then. We’ve talked enough for tonight… Kexie Ning, take this young friend back to the Northern Realm. Afterward, they’ll have plenty to keep them busy. Hopefully, you’ll succeed. Although we’re living well elsewhere, after all, the Northern Realm is our home. We, too, look forward to the day we can return to the foot of the Wutong Tree and rest beneath the shelter of Phoenix Wings.”
The Slime King waved at Fisher, embracing his chubby little belly with both hands, looking like a baby ready for sleep. Kexie Ning approached Fisher’s side and took out the Boundary Flute concealed behind them, inquiring tentatively,
“Shall we set off?”
Fisher took one last, meaningful look at the great Slime King before him, then nodded to Kexie Ning, saying,
“Please.”
“Kexie Ning, Kexie Ning, Kexie Ning, Kexie Ning!”
As the boisterous and cheerful song resounded once more, Fisher and Kexie Ning were enveloped in valuable golden light. Kexie Ning raised the Northern Realm silver coins he’d already used, and in an instant, the two of them vanished from the Boundary.
Tranquility quickly fell upon the Slime’s Boundary. A slender, pacesetter slime standing nearby, wrapped in a false skin, murmured to the lazily reclining Slime King on the ground,
