Chapter 645: 100. Slime’s Boundary (Two in One)
“Slimes, although scattered far apart across the world, actually often come together to communicate and are well aware of each other’s situations… unlike other races in the Northern Realm, we Slimes are much more united than we appear,”
Hearing Kexie Ning’s words, Valentina nodded slightly, guessing correctly. Although the Slime Species didn’t know why they had dispersed from the Northern Realm, they maintained a tacit connection through some method. Thinking of this, she tapped her ring and asked Kexie Ning,
“What method do you use to stay in touch?”
“Boundary… Our race left the Northern Realm many years ago. Some went into commerce, others into performing, but before we separated, we made a mark in a very secluded place overseas. Many respected elders remained there, and the rest would return every few years to gather and share their situations. That place is called the Boundary.”
Kexie Ning’s purely green head lifted slightly, and above her, the tentacle-like hair on the back of her body twisted slightly; in fact, Slimes don’t have hair—that’s their third hand,
“The Seal you seek is in our Boundary, but the problem now is that it’s been a long time since our family has returned there. Our relationship with the other members of our race isn’t good—it’s even probable that we will be chased out by other Slimes before we even enter the Boundary.”
“However, if you insist on going, I can take one person to the Boundary. You’ll have to negotiate the specifics with them, but in return, please spare me and my daughter.”
Before Valentina could respond, Fisher had already pointed to one of Kexie Ning’s daughters, then he said to Kexie Ning,
“I’ll go with you to this Boundary you mentioned to retrieve the Seal, and the deal will be as you described, but I’ll add another condition, which I will discuss with you on the way. Until then, your daughter stays here.”
Kexie Ning glanced at her two daughters shivering behind her and reluctantly agreed to Fisher’s demand,
“Alright. But you’ll also need to provide some Northern Realm silver coins for traveling to the Boundary; I need to convert them into something of value… Also, if you could prepare some food for us, that would be great.”
Fisher nodded in agreement, but then noticed Valentina beckoning him with her Fire Pistol, indicating him to come over. Fisher watched as Heidlin went to prepare the items, then boldly walked over to her,
“What is it?”
“You trust these Slimes so easily? They are cunning, and following her to this Boundary I haven’t even heard of could be dangerous.”
Fisher turned his head and looked at the cluster of three Slimes in the distance, nonchalantly saying,
“There’s indeed a risk, but her two daughters are still in your possession. Although she didn’t seem to care much about her daughters while in her space, the reality is different… I’ve heard Slimes are real treasure hoarders, and even if she sees her daughters as her property, she wouldn’t let go easily.”
“The main factor is that Slimes generally have a low Life Rank; their combat ability feels hardly stronger than humans. Their racial talent is very useful—casual spatial storage and teleportation are abilities many yearn for, and perhaps it’s because they received this Blessing that their combat abilities are compromised?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll bring back the Slime Imprint for you… but if there are any demands from the other side, I need you to give me some authority to make promises on your behalf.”
“Heh, didn’t you just confidently agree to their deal? Let me guess, the additional deal you mentioned involves researching one of her daughters?”
“How did you know?”
Valentina’s face subtly fell, but she merely slowly lowered the Fire Pistol she held and rested it on the wheelchair behind her, saying to Fisher,
“Oh, so does that mean the Ice Owl Species you previously promised aren’t needed anymore? Since you’ve already got a Slime girl to study…”
“That’s not the case; it’s always better to have more options. Please continue your efforts.”
“You really are…”
Valentina rubbed her temples in frustration. When Heidlin returned with some bread and Northern Realm silver coins, the two who had been in close conversation abruptly separated some distance, as if afraid Heidlin would notice anything and start nagging.
Watching Kexie Ning and her daughters wolf down the bread Heidlin brought over, their bodies wrapped in an outer layer, the bread didn’t seem to have any shape once swallowed. Initially, Fisher was curious about how Slimes ate, imagining they would be able to see everything clearly in their stomach like jelly, but it seemed that wasn’t the case.
The prepared Northern Realm silver coins were divided into two portions, one for going and the other for returning, all kept by Fisher.
