When Fisher emerged from the café, it was nearly half past eight, over twenty minutes past the time he’d agreed to meet Anna.
Time spent with Elizabeth in the café felt like it had flown by, though he felt as if only five minutes had passed.
After leaving, he hurriedly boarded a carriage headed for the Miao Cemetery where he and Anna had arranged to meet.
Upon hearing Fisher’s destination, the coachman opened the small carriage window specifically to get a good look at him, and only after confirming that he was a living person did he slowly start the carriage,
"Now going to the Miao Cemetery will cost an extra 20 euros..."
Inside the carriage, Fisher couldn’t help but smile wryly as he heard the coachman’s remark. Stories of the night and cemeteries always led to wild imaginings, including a vampire tale that once set Nali City ablaze. It was so sensational that residents stocked up on Holy Water from the Church, fearing a day when an unstoppable vampire creature might appear in their homes.
Fisher agreed to the additional fee – he needed to get there quickly. More than half an hour late, he worried Anna might have thought he stood her up and left.
The Miao Cemetery was located on the outskirts of the city, in a direction opposite to Saint Nali University, nestled near woods wrapped in the cloak of night, just a short distance from leaving Saint Nali City.
