Chapter 222: Forced to take hostage
Fisher looked at the bustling Bounty Hunters in the distance, then turned his attention to the firearms in their hands. There were at least a hundred of them, and a direct confrontation would easily escalate the risk, especially since the gang running the black market were the underworld of the Imperial City, not to be underestimated.
Above their heads, the battle had reached its climax, even the floorboards quivered gently with the wood, making a faint sound. Moli’s ears perked up a little, but remembering Fisher’s instructions, she didn’t look up. Instead, she imagined the scene based solely on the sounds she heard.
Were they... fighting?
As Moli thought this, her curiosity itched like a cat’s scratch. She wanted to look yet dared not because of Fisher’s words, so she focused intently on listening and used her imagination to compensate for the lack of visuals.
Without speaking, Fisher wouldn’t know what she was thinking. After a short reflection, he came up with a plan. He was about to whisper a few words to Moli when he suddenly caught sight of her long ears drooping beside her face.
After a silent second, he reached out with two fingers, lifted one of her soft ears, and then leaned in closer to tell her something.

Moli’s face flushed with a delicate animal-like sound. Fisher was about to release her ear when she voluntarily moved her head closer to him, seemingly signaling him to speak.
