Chapter 146 - 60. Human Worm
The sky had already gradually dimmed, and the afterglow of the setting sun also became increasingly blurred as time passed. Right at the boundary between light and dark, Fisher, holding his Handcane, sprinted toward the place in the field from which sounds were coming.
From outside the laboratory, there was a patch of elm trees about half a human’s height. As Fisher ran, the distant sounds suddenly quieted.
The setting sun also completely sank below the horizon, leaving only a small patch of sky rippling with a purple glow.
Fisher suddenly stopped, not advancing in that direction anymore. A breeze passed by, blowing the nearby elms down.
He didn’t move further because he suddenly felt that something was approaching from the direction of the sound.
That thing moved extremely fast. Yet Fisher was not at all flustered but calmly gripped his Handcane firmly, his gaze fixed firmly on the ground in front of him.
In the dim environment, the pieces of elm were toppled by something that crawled over them, silently charging toward Fisher, who stood rooted in place.
Although the creature’s crawling made no sound, as it got closer, Fisher began to smell a scent like that of meat rotting for hundreds of years. The next moment, that stench reached its peak, and a long, strip-like creature suddenly leapt up from the ground, lunging at Fisher.
