"Ah, why didn’t you stop Mr. Fischer? I ran across two buildings!"
After Mr. Fischer had left, Milica, panting from her run across two buildings, looked at the empty podium and knew Mr. Fischer had already left. Just like during his own tutoring sessions, he looked forward to class ending more than the students, and he would never hold over.
Milica puffed out her cheeks, feeling somewhat disappointed for not having caught up with Mr. Fischer. Then she turned her head and saw Isabella, who was slumped over the desk and almost looked like a dried corpse. Moli, sitting next to her, was gently patting her back with a worried expression. Milica, puzzled, asked Moli,
"What’s wrong with her, Moli?"
Before Moli could respond, Isabella had already lifted her head, her eyes brimming with pitiful moisture,
"That professor is so strict, why does he start teaching right from the first class? I was already so sleepy, barely keeping my eyes open, and then I had to focus hard on his lecture!"
Milica gave an awkward smile, as if briefly revisiting the painful memories of her math classes long ago,
"Mr. Fischer is like a different person when he’s teaching; a bit strict, yes, but I assure you—you’ll learn a lot. Guarantees with my math-studying intellect! Our literature class today was quite fun though; Lady Lao Fang introduced her latest collection of poems and had us share our thoughts, which was quite interesting."
Lady Lao Fang, that poet?
Moli tilted her head, seemingly unaware of her, but Isabella knew of the poet’s reputation.
