Chapter 98 - 23. Elizabeth
Mr. Fisher stepped down from the podium and quietly sat next to Damian, sensing the muscle-bound principal’s displeasure. He leaned in and whispered,
"I’ve already condensed it a lot, otherwise I could have talked for fifteen minutes straight... After all, I haven’t been on stage for six years, you understand."
Damian looked at Mr. Fisher for a long time, then took a deep breath and said,
"...I know."
Damian’s face looked troubled, and the others from the research institute felt even more aggrieved and helpless. Mr. Fisher had already slapped them in the face by publicly airing the institute’s issues. He didn’t need to pile on with many adjectives, as the scholars were likely to view the research institute as a pigsty for the entire following year.
Damian just hoped it would have some effect. After all, it was inevitable that he would be called in for a chat by the Griffin Party comrades upon returning.
The opening ceremony ended quickly. Mr. Fisher didn’t stay for lunch with Helson and the others; he still had to find his "old friend" and search for clues about the Witch Research Association and the Undead Witch, so he prepared to leave first.
As he left, he deliberately pulled the brim of his gentleman’s hat down to avoid being recognized by the fervent young scholars behind him who might stop him to ask questions or even for an autograph. They probably thought by hanging his autograph above their beds before exams, they’d be blessed to pass.
