His growl made An Mofeng fall into a dazed state. Just like what Ning Hu said, he had always pinned his hopes on others in the past decades.

When he realised he couldn’t make it to the Divine Ocean Realm, he started hoping that one of the disciples could achieve that goal. He had lost the motivation to try to achieve a breakthrough.

Ning Hu continued, “Previously, you pinned your hopes on that brat surnamed Zhong, but in the end, he passed away not long after he made it to the Cloud River Realm. In this generation, you’re hoping Zi Yan will make it. He’s luckier than that brat surnamed Zhong as he’s now a Third-Order Cloud River Realm Master. However, how can you be sure that he won’t pass away prematurely? Even if he can make it to the Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm, how can you be certain he will ascend to the Divine Ocean Realm?”

“I can do that, Great Elder!” shouted the young man named Zi Yan. “I’m sure I can do that!”

“No one can be certain about the future,” Ning Hu said impassively. When he exerted more force on his hand, Zi Yan was instantly unable to speak anymore. Then, he glanced at An Mofeng. “Senior Brother, you’re capable of ascending to the Divine Ocean Realm, but you’ve lost the motivation to give it a shot.”

An Mofeng sighed. “What’s the point of saying all this now?”

“It’s not meaningless.” Ning Hu suddenly chuckled.

A premonition rose within An Mofeng as he asked in shock, “What are you trying to do?”

“I’m going to destroy your hopes and expectations so that you can only rely on yourself.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he ended his captive’s life. Following a crack, Zi Yan’s neck broke as the light went out of his eyes.

Although Ning Hu had killed several dozen people, no one had expected that he would end Zi Yan’s life.

That was because the two of them had always been on good terms. It could be said that Ning Hu had watched Zi Yan grow up and taught him everything. He could be considered the latter’s Honoured Master as well.
