Seeing that no ANBU were chasing after him, Shinji breathed a sigh of relief.

As soon as his tension eased, the wound on his back started to throb with pain.
His brow furrowed, and his expression grew grim.
The wound on his back wasn't severe, and due to using Breathing Technique to stop the bleeding along the way, it had barely bled.
But the troublesome part of the injury was that it was difficult to explain!
Once Danzo discovers that the subordinate he sent to monitor Shinji had mysteriously blown himself up outside the Hidden Sand encampment, even if he has other suspicions, he definitely won't let investigating Shinji slide.
At that point, there would be no hiding the wound on his back.
And once they connect it to the incident at the ANBU headquarters, it would be easy to trace the intruder back to him.
Then, charges like killing a Root member and infiltrating the ANBU headquarters would all be pinned on him—just another remnant of the Uchiha clan.
