When they got home, Kyouko took off her shoes and reached for the light switch. The warm light gently filled the space, creating a cozy atmosphere in the quiet house.
"How long are Father-in-law and Satomi going to be away?" Haruki asked as he slipped off his shoes.
"He said four... maybe five days," Kyouko replied, setting her bag down on the table.
"Oh," Haruki replied, stepping closer. Without saying anything else, he wrapped his arms around her from behind, pulling her back into his chest.
Kyouko gasped softly at the warmth of his embrace, but before she could say anything, Haruki turned her around to face him. His eyes met hers—tender, full of longing, with unspoken emotions swirling between them.
He leaned down slowly, giving her a chance to pull away. But Kyouko stayed still.
Her lips parted slightly, and she held her breath in anticipation.
Then his lips touched hers.
