Veyra’s stormhawk dove, its talons grazed Kelvin’s leg, tearing through his armor and drawing fresh blood.
He cursed under his breath and channeled a second Convergence, Xerion’s flames that roared into a fiery vortex that seared the stormhawk’s wings, forcing it to retreat.
Lyra’s shadow cage snapped shut, pinning the stormhawk’s wings, and Salaris’s talons rendered its core, the beast collapsed in a burst of red light that lit the platform.
Darius’s soulstone blast struck Master Torin’s arm, his runes faltering as blood streamed down his sleeve, his face was contorted with rage.
"Now!" Kelvin shouted, charging the altar, Xerion’s flames engulfed the stones in a roaring inferno. The rift collapsed in a blinding surge of violet light that shook the platform, the riftlords dissolved into ash, their roars faded into silence.
Veyra staggered, her stormhawk form flickered, her runes were dimming as the altar crumbled. Torin’s runes faltered, his arm bleeding, but he stood defiant.
Lyra’s shadow runes lashed out, binding their wrists in a coiling net, but a shadow flickered at the altar’s edge, the cloaked figure and their runes glowed with dark energy, slashing the bindings with a blade of pure Veil energy.
Veyra and Torin twisted free, lunging for a hidden crevice in the platform’s wall, the cloaked figure vanished with them into the shadows.
"The Veil’s source lies beyond Veilheart!" Veyra spat, her voice was venomous, echoing as they disappeared. "The Abyss Core will unleash its full power!"
There was silence everywhere which was heavy and absolute, the platform littered with ash, shattered stones, and scorch marks from the battle.
