Chapter 110: Sanctum’s Reckoning 3
Veyra’s stormhawk dove, its talons grazed Kelvin’s leg, drawing fresh blood. He cursed, channeling a fiery vortex, Xerion’s flames that seared the bird’s wings.
Lyra’s shadow cage pinned it and Salaris’s talons rend its core in a burst of red light. Darius’s blast struck Torin’s arm, his runes faltered as blood streamed down his sleeve.
"Now!" Kelvin shouted, charging the altar, Xerion’s flames engulfed the stones in a roaring inferno. The rift collapsed in a blinding surge of violet light and the riftclaws dissolved into ash and their roars faded into silence.
Torin staggered, his arm was bleeding with his runes dimming. Lyra’s shadow runes lashed out, binding his wrists in a coiling net, but a shadow flickered at the altar’s edge-the cloaked figure and their runes glowed with dark energy, slashing the bindings with a blade of pure Veil energy.
Torin twisted free and lunged for a hidden passage, the cloaked figure vanish with him. "Veyra’s final rift rises at Veilheart!" Torin screamed, his voice was loud echoing as he disappeared.
Silence fell, heavy and absolute, the chamber littered with ash, shattered stones, and scorch marks from the battle. The trio collapsed, their breaths ragged, their beasts were battered but alive.
Kelvin’s leg was bleeding and the fresh wound was stinging, but he stumbled to Lyra and checked her side, where blood seeped through her bandage.
She leaned on Salaris, her face down but determined, the raptor’s talons dripping with riftclaw essence. Darius clutched his shoulder and blood soaked his bandages, but Rhoam’s steady presence kept him upright, the panther’s plates gleamed despite the deep gouges.
"We stopped the rift," Kelvin said, Veyra’s visions were gone from his mind. "But Torin and Veyra escaped." Lyra nodded with her gauntlet dim but steady as she pressed a hand to her side. "Veilheart is next. We will find them."
Darius tossed his soulstone, his grin weak but sharp despite the pain. "And we will end this for good."
